Blizzard!

The day before we were set to leave for our big trip around the South Island, a snow storm hit out of nowhere! Within a hour, almost 2 inches of snow fell...and stuck! The road which I live on, Hackthorne, was closed so that only residents could travel home. The conditions grew so bad, so fast, that we weren't sure if we might have to push our trip back a day. The roads through Arthur's Pass that we would be traveling on the following day had closed!

Yes, that is a palm tree in Fiona's front yard, and yes, it is covered in snow.
Too bad they were already on holiday break, otherwise they might have had a snow day!

Luckily, the conditions began to clear by nightfall and our road trip began to look more promising!
